BY PLANE: The closest airport is Marseille-Marignane. There are direct connections with several major european cities (Paris, London, Munich, Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, Bruxelles, ...)
FROM THE AIRPORT: You have two options : Take a taxi (Chateau-Gombert is about 25 Km from the airport — expect a bill around 300FF). Take a shuttle to the main railway station St-Charles (tickets for 45 FF are bought at the office next to the stop). On average, there is a shuttle every 20’. Then see FROM THE RAILWAY STATION.
FROM THE RAILWAY STATION: Get a taxi (Chateau-Gombert is about 5 Km from the station — expect a bill around 100 FF), or take the Metro 1, direction `La Rose’ terminal station (a ticket is around 9 FF). Going out of the metro station `La Rose’ follow indications for ``Ligne N 1, Navette Metro-Technopole’’ (your metro ticket can be used for the Navette too). The bus stop is just in front of the metro station. On average, there is a bus every 10’. Get out at the stop ``Keynes’’. It takes less than 5’ to get there, just after the bus stop the bus goes uphill, if you are not sure about the stop ask the driver... The Centre de Mathematiques et Informatique is a modern white building about 200 m from the bus stop (the name is visible on the building). In the technopole, there are signals which show the way to the various buildings, the Centre de Mathematiques et Informatique is indicated as CMI.
COMING BY CAR: You do not have to go to the center of Marseille ! If you are on the motorways which go into Marseille from the East and the North, you will see, about 10Km before the end of the motorway, signs for ``Technopole de Chateau-Gombert’’ and ``La Rose’’. Follow those signs. Once you are in the Technopole there is a big (long about 200 m) grey building ``Institut Mediterraneen de Technologie (IMT)’’ which you should not miss. The ``Centre de Mathematiques et Informatique’’ is a modern white building about 500 m from IMT (the name is visible on the building). In the technopole, there are signals which show the way to the various buildings, the Centre de Mathematiques et Informatique is indicated as CMI.
WHAT TO DO WHEN CMI IS CLOSED: It is not possible to enter or exit CMI between 8pm and 6am. During vacations (summer, Christmas, Easter...), and on the week-end (Saturday and Sunday) you need a badge and a key to enter the building. To enter the building you have to go through the garage. If you do not have a badge and a key, then you have to fix an appointment with your host, or wait at the garage for somebody who knows you and will help you to get in (and hopefully to get out).
